TRAVORS is a five-country research, testing and evaluation Project. It teaches skills
for disability employment guidance and case-management, and is led by VRC and RNL
Ltd.
The project has tested innovative training and train-the trainer courses in employment-finding
and employment-support skills for personal employment advisors. It has been successfully
used by public, private and NGO services supporting disabled people into work.
The courses are based on the development of skills in preference to knowledge, and
some 600 key skills have been identified as essential to the central activities of
employment advice. A library of some 200 exercises, handouts, checklists and other
documents has been compiled.
We have created a kit of parts from which training courses can be designed to meet
clients’ exact needs: Learning Needs Analysis; Best Practice Training Design; Skills
Development and consolidation at work and Evaluation. Face-to-face, distance learning,
and ICT based materials are available.
The training design is based on researched and evidenced best-practice from around
the world that has been compiled by a team in the Occupational & Health Psychology
Services Division of the UK Department of Work and Pensions.
The project runs to the end of September 2010, when a full evaluation will be completed
and available.
The courses are currently available in Austria, Estonia, Greece, Spain, and the UK.
